I have the very bad habit of starting a million series and very rarely finishing them. So I decided last month that I would dedicate as much time as possible towards making progress or hopefully even finishing some series. It was one of my goals to finish (9 I think?) series and I really need to start with that.
But I also have some other books I need to get to, so I’ll still use my category system.
Finish what you started
Most of these I’ve been reading (or not reading) for months now … so I really really wanna finish them this month. Especially The Lies of Locke Lamora & Illuminae as I’m really loving both of them so far.
Genre Goals
I really loved the first two books in the series and I’m really excited (and a bit scared) to see how this will all finish. I cried while reading both Sleeping Giants and Waking Gods, so I will have the tissues ready. Aaaand reading it will bring me one step closer to my finishing series goal ^^
Also, aren’t the covers just absolutely stunning?!
I’ll probably listen to the audiobook since I loved the full cast narration for the last two books and I don’t own this book yet. I’ll definitely buy it soon though. I need it to complete my collection.
ARCs & Review Copies
I already started this yesterday and so far I’m really enjoying it. Harrow Lake is a YA thriller (with horror elements?). It sounds super intriguing and the first few chapters were already great. I’m really enjoying the writing style and am quite curious to see what will happen next!
I’m part of the Blog Tour currently going on for this so you can expect my review on the 6th.
Promises Forged by Devri Walls
I read the first book Magic Unleashed for a blog tour a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it, and after Devri Walls telling me that my favourite character will appear a lot more in the sequels I was sold to continue!
And now, I’m gonna buddy read this with Ellie from Read to Ramble. She loved book 1, too and it’s gonna be so much fun to read this together!!
To be honest, I don’t really know a lot about this book but Dave from The Write Reads bullied me into joining the Blog Tour, so here I am ^^ He was quite excited about this one if I remember correctly.
So far, I really enjoyed all the books I read for these Blog Tours (except 1) so I trust him and I love that I get to read so many books I otherwise probably wouldn’t have picked up.
I’ve found some new favourites through this.
Got as a gift
Illuminae and Der Medicus both fall into this category AND they also are genres I’m trying to read more of this year. So they’ll cross of multiple things if I can manage to finish them!
Backlist
The Reluctant Queen by Sarah Beth Durst
I absolutely adored book 1: Die Blutkönigin/Queen of Blood Review (Ger/Eng) aka a new favourite <– my review
And I managed to get the last book for review (the german edition) and it would be perfect if I could get through both this month. I’m 100% I will love them and honestly have no idea why I haven’t continued with this series earlier other than the fact that I’m apparently scared of finishing series or something?
Also again, those covers!!!
Books in a series
The Heart Forger by Rin Chupeco
It’s no secret that I’m a big Rin Chupeco fan. Her latest book Wicked as you Wish was absolutely amazing and after reading it I asked myself again why on earth I haven’t finished The Bone Witch trilogy yet?? Like, I fell head over heels in love with The Bone Witch! It was one of my all-time fav books of last (?) year!
Tea and her magic are just so intriguing and the writing style is pure magic! If you haven’t picked it up yet, do so right now!
Emperor of Thorns by Mark Lawrence
Mark Lawrence has really become a favourite author. I loved every book I picked up by him, the last one was his new book The Girl and the Stars by Mark Lawrence aka the best book ever!
The trilogy about Jorg is so dark and brutal and I love it so much. How Lawrence actually got me to care for the little psychopath … it’s incredible. But the side characters are also, as always, very intriguing and I can’t wait to see how this will all wrap up!
Five Dark Fates by Kandare Blake
Three Dark Crowns is a series I love dearly and because of that, I’m so scared to read the last book. I don’t know I could survive it being bad. I mean, I trust Kendare Blake but also … THE RISK!
These girls are my babies and I don’t want anything to happen to any of them but in particular not to Katharine, my poor baby!
The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black
This is another one I definitely scared to read! I don’t know if I’m ready to finish the adventure with Jude and Cardan. Then again, I’ll probably never be truly ready so now is as good a time as any …
Keep me in your thoughts though because I’ve seen a couple people being really disappointed and I couldn’t cope if I’d be one of them.
I love these twisted characters way too much for that!
I love the Illuminae Files. I hope you enjoy Illuminae and the rest of the trilogy!

The part that I read of Illuminae was amazing. I’ve never wanted to pick that series up because of the hype but I finally caved and I get it now! 😅
And I’m sooo scared to read QoN!! I loved the first 2 (1/2) books so much!
