OWLs TBR + other April reads

Is it a bit ridiculous to post a TBR when a third of the month is already over? Maybe. Am I still gonna do it? YES!

And I haven’t really read any book from my TBR for the OWLs yet anyways. I’m sooo bad when it comes to sticking to a TBR but they are so much fun to put together!!

If you don’t know anything about the OWLs … where have you been?! But also, please check G’s videos because this readathon is my absolute favourite one by far!! And she puts always so much effort and love into this! It’s incredible!

It’s my third year participating (omg, time absolutely flew by. I can’t believe I’m a third-year already 😱 I feel so ooooold) and Jude and I decided we would try for a chill round this year. So no alchemy for me. We can actually be relaxed this year, can’t we?! (I believe it only when April is over and I haven’t read books for all the prompts … I have no confidence in my ability to not get overly ambitious with my reading. But I’m really gonna try so maybe we’ll be surprised!)

Okay, so I’ve rambled on for long enough. I have several career options depending on just how chill I want this year to be. My four choices are Herbologist, Magizoologist, Potioneer or Healer.  It was soo hard to narrow it down to these four, so many cool career options! Since Healers need the most OWLs out of my four I’ll go with this to do my TBR.

I’m gonna begin with the prompts I need for all and continue to add what the next career path requires if that makes sense?

Herbology
Mimbulus Mimbletonia: title starts with an M

Master of Sorrows by Justin Travis Call

I won an ARC of this stunning book in a giveaway (😱) and I’m dying to read it!! I mean:

But what if the boy hero and the malevolent, threatening taint were one and the same?

What if the boy slowly came to realize he was the reincarnation of an evil god? Would he save the world . . . or destroy it?

Ravencry by Ed McDonald

The first book in this series, Blackwing, recently made my Best Books of 2019 list and it’s definitely time to continue to read about this dark world!

Blackwing was deliciously dark and creepy. A very hopeless and bleak world with people still holding on and a very reluctant hero. I can’ wait what next adventures Galharrow has to go on. I’m really looking forward to learn even more about the magic system and the world. And the war coming…

Potions
Shrinking Solution: book under 150 pages

High Spirits by Rob Keeley

“Millions of people will die in the war, Ellie. And it’s our job to make sure it happens. That’s why our work isn’t easy.”

I really love this series! The characters are adorable, their adventures intriguing and I love how history and the present are so well connected. This time Ellie doesn’T just see ghosts but is transported back in time herself!!

I actually already finished this!! Yay! At least one book done for the Readathon in 11 days ^^

It was really great, I have it 4.5 stars. It has no English translation as of yet, so …

It’s this really cool story where the fairytales turn against us (well not actually but it’s some kind of disease that makes you kill in fairytale style which is … well not very pg-13 if you’ve read the original Grimms fairytales not the disneyfied versions … Really cool concept and I’d love to read the sequel soon!

Limited Wish
Limited Wish by Mark Lawrence

One choice. Two possible timelines. And a world hanging in the balance.

Science Fiction has just recently been something I dipped my toe into and One Word Kill (the first book in this series) was largely to blame (congratulate?) for that. I love Mark Lawrence and just had to give his scifi book a try and I fell in love with it. I don’t know why I waited soo bloody long to continue!! Maybe because book 1 broke my heart just a little bit?

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

I’ve read Madeline Miller’s other book Circe and unfortunately was kinda underwhelmed but I liked her writing style so I’ll give her another chance and I’ve heard soooooo many good things!

I kind of grew up with Greek mythology so I’m picky with my books about it. Hopefully, I’ll love it just as much as everyone else

Transfiguration
Animagus lecture: book/series that includes shapeshifting

The Die of Death by Kenneth B. Andersen

I’ve been reading quite a few middle-grade books and I’m loving it! This series is so entertaining and well written!

I’m having a great time and I already have a new fav character (I already started reading this) and it’S Mortimer or as you might know him: Death.

I’m always smiling and laughing while reading these books and if that isn’t the perfect read for right now!

My review of book one you can find here: The Devil’s Apprentice

Those are all the books I intend to read for the OWLs. Wish me luck I don’t add any more prompts in!
If I manage to complete all the prompts listed above I will have also completed the following seminars: Animagus training, MAgical Shop Management, and Merpeople linguistics (how cool is that?! If I fail everything else … I want to at least do this!)

Some other books on my TBR because I’m an idiot and always have too large a TBR but am unable to change that …

40787393._sy475_ Lady SmokeThe Lies of Locke Lamora Illuminae The Monsters of Music

Please tell me to not be an idiot and try to read all those on top of my OWL reads!!

What are your plans for the OWLs (or April)? What career have you chosen? Any five-star predictions on your TBR?

    1. Thanks! Do you participate in the OWLs too?
Yes, the monsters of music sounds really cool. I’ve been wanting to read that for months now and I feel kinda guilty that I didn’t get to it and I think I won’t get to it this month either unfortunately … 🙈
